Florida is one of the major world locations for film production outside California. The all-around fine weather, the scenery, and the generous tax breaks make it an attractive place for filmmakers from around the world. If you’re filming here, we hope you enjoy what Florida has to offer, but we recommend you think carefully about your security needs as well.
Keep Onlookers Away
When you’re filming an exterior scene – which is frequently the reason for shooting in Florida instead of a studio location elsewhere – there’s always the risk of unwanted visitors to the set. Especially if you’re filming in an urban location, where you need to close the public streets, people will want to see what’s going on.
You can’t afford to waste valuable shooting time dealing with people who shouldn’t be there. In addition, there are potentially serious liability issues if a bystander is injured by a pyrotechnic, stunt car or other on-set hazard. The police will provide some level of assistance in some situations, but it’s important to remember that they’re not under your control, and they won’t always be there.
A team of security guards that works for you will:
- Provide crowd control whenever you need it
- Ensure that onlookers can’t get onto the set
- Mediate disruptions to your shoot
- Help ensure onlookers and others don’t injure themselves
Keep Your Gear Safe
At the end of each day’s shooting, you need to be sure that everything left on set is safe. This includes cameras, lights, sound equipment, vehicles, props – and the set itself. Having a security team that works around the clock ensures that you don’t need to worry about theft or damage from criminals or thrill-seekers.
Protect the Talent
If you’re working with well-known actors, they’re likely to be pestered by autograph hunters, fans, and other annoying people. While they often enjoy meeting fans, they need times where they can get past those people and focus on work.
A-listers will almost certainly have their own entourage and bodyguards, but even lesser known stars, particularly those with a cult following, will often appreciate having someone around to deal with the public and let them get on with their jobs.
